Neil Ta

Currently living and working in Toronto, Canada.

Neil Ta is a Toronto-based photographer, urban explorer, rooftopper, and gentle lover. Rooftoppers are thrill-seekers who climb into the highest buildings where they photograph the urban scenery by hanging off the edge. Neil specializes in the documentation of places that are generally deemed inaccessible to the public. By doing so, he is challenging the law and putting his own life in danger. He is literally “living on the edge”.

His photographic work is the result of an experience that is driven by adrenaline. It is exhilarating for the artist to plan and experience the illegal adventures. By sharing these images he will make you part of this adventures; you will get a sense of the experience. The viewer will also get a chance to see the bigger picture of a city as the artist does as the artist does seeing it from above: it is a different sense of space than you experience it from street level. There is a sense of clarity and control by over viewing life beneath you and concurring the massive skyscrapers. Toronto is the ideal city to have as your playground as the city is vastly vertically evolving. It is perfect to explore the architecture as a rooftopper. Neil has the unique ability to access and showcase this ever-changing and often temporary views of the cityscapes below him. He established himself as one of the leaders in this field of photography.

Neil has travelled extensively throughout Canada, the US, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, and Australia in search of some of the world’s hidden treasures.
